Tomorrow morning I'm going to rip the entire interior out of my car. All seats, console and carpets. Clean it and reinstall it.

Be VERY carefull when pulling panels. After 20+ years, all the clips and plastic parts in general get really brittle. On the good side, you may find some change laying around. Good luck with the project.

I got caught up fixing things.

The dome light system quit working right when I ripped the old alarm out. I fixed the rear light by reconnecting a jumper wire that runs from the front door trigger to the rear door trigger.

I really need a good wiring schematic for the dome light system. Anyone have one?

Soon (Few days) I'm going to paint the following Gloss Black:
  • Grille
  • Wiper arm
  • Door Handles
  • Washer Nozzles
  • Trunk/License plate trim
  • Mirrors
  • Front & Rear window trim
  • Roof trim
Most of the black trim on the car looks more gray than black and really needs some love. I believe this will make the car look much better. I'm going to mask off what I can't easily remove to paint. Some items will be removed, sanded and painted. Some will be sanded, masked off and painted.

Today was one of the best days for the car since I bought it. I gave those chrome wheels back to the friend I bought them from in exchange for a brand new set of 195/50R15 tires for my Cragar wheels. The car rides so much better now, drives better and just all around.. is better. Even my speedometer works right now.

Tires We bought, $216 mounted and balanced. (Friend price)

About to head to the tire shop. Cragar's with old crap tires loaded up. (I removed the lower half of my back seat for this)

Notice my wife sitting there texting on her phone.

All good. It looks so much nicer now.. No more ghetto wheels for me.

190rev sticker on the back window. Tomorrow I'm going to wash the car.

Tire size chart:

I'd love to take her out on the track and run the hell out of it. I need to replace the timing chain first and some other stuff. Don't want to blow her up first time out.

Waaaay better than with the chrome rims. Have you thought about taking care of that slight paint peeling on the front bumper? It would change the face ofthe car a lot too.

Yeah but when I do, I want to paint more than just the bumper. I want to paint the mirrors, repaint the rear wing/spoiler and some other little things. I'll get to it in time.

I took some cool pictures today of the car.

Looks like a real Mercedes now.

Not a Mercedes with Auto_Zone-Discount_Tire-Ghetto-Crap-Plastic-Chrome-Junk-Cheap-Ugly_WHEELS.

I have always been a true believer in the fact that wheels can make or break a car.... you just made yours! Looks great

Yeah, don't repaint them either, the machined face looks nice. If anything, I'd just re-do the clear-coat if you have any chipping or peeling, which it doesn't look like at all. Run it!

Hey Scott, I was just looking on your site, and I reailized that your front seats are not the stock 190 seats... What are they out of? Are they real leather? They almost look like the old w123 seats

Not stock? They sure look stock to me. All of the adjustment controls work and the arm rest is the same as every other w201 I've seen.

Now I have to investigate.
