Heh, the plug is actually a vw/Audi oil drain plug. It's just a 14x1.5 thread pitch plug.
Here is where I got mine: Home Page > Search > 14x1.5 > ES#1892080 Drain Plug With Sealing Washer - 14x1.5 - N0160276 EDIT: The stock 2.3-16 oil drain plug is also a 14x1.5 thread bolt, and would also work. Make sure to get a crush washer with it.

Thanks. I was looking for something prettier than Dorman plugs.

If you don't overtighten them and use anti seize, a wrench will work. That's funny, they actually went through the effort to install that lambda setup. Maybe you should have kept it, as it could help with the emissions testing, unless you're going to install standalone fuel injection. When you get the car in good shape we should go for a drive.

I'll definitely take you up on the drive some time in the future.
The reason I decided to take out the turbo power and oxygen sensor is because I simply didn't have much faith in the system. The electronics box was very big relative to what was inside, everything was big chunky through-hole components with some very sketchy modifications like resistors added on in parallel, the tracings on the board were hand drawn, and the damn thing was called Turbo Power and was for a naturally aspirated car, lol. Anyways, I got the special oxygen sensor socket today, which is just a deep 7/8" /22mm socket with a 1/4" wide slot going up the side for the wire to pass through. With much force, the oxygen sensor came out and upon removal I saw why it was so hard to take out. The hole made in the exhaust and the oxygen sensor bung don't line up completely, so part of the exhaust pipes presses into the threads of the oxygen sensor(picture below). When I took out the oxygen sensor, the threads were destroyed. So now the exhaust manifold is out if the car, and is going to have that shitty welded in bung removed and covered up. I'm tempted to have the cover up patch engraved with something on it like a Mercedes star and "fabricated by M. Kodama" ![]()

You have a 1985 16 valve just like mine, do you have an oxygen sensor as well? I'm kinda curious if the oxygen sensor on my car is part of the federalization or was just part of some aftermarket add-on.
And speaking of emissions and cats, I love how the midsection of the 190E is removable. This makes it so easy to just have a line of efficient and restricting catalytic converters for smog, and then replacing them all with a straight pipe the day after you get a smog check.

I think my O2 sensor goes to a dead end and is just there for looks. Fortunately it's still good for tuning the a/f ratio using a multimeter. I think yours was done for federalization too, just with something that's a little more "functional".
I can't wait to install my straight-through mid-pipe, the throttle response and top end power without cats is great, and the sound...

Well, removed the nasty wart-like oxygen sensor bung and just decided for simple over fancy, and bent up just a plain rectangular patch to cover the hole.

Hooray for having the skills and equipment to TIG weld stainless steel. Headers are now repaired and ready to go back on the car with a much prettier and usable oxygen sensor bung.

Exhaust manifold back in... what a pain. On the positive side I now know how to take off the alternator, that removing the alternator is necessary to remove the exhaust manifold, and how to tension and loosen the serpentine belt.
Now I need to rebuild the calipers so that I can drive the car in the road some more and tune the injection system.

Every time there is discussion on fuel related issues i.e. emissions, not starting, idling funny, retarded k-jet, etc. I am always thankful that I drive a diesel!

All 4 calipers are off the car now, and on my desk, along with the rebuild kits.
One thing I'll pass on that I was told by one of my parts department people is to NEVER separate the calipers, because they halves have a sealing O-ring between them that is extremely small, and of square profile. So unless you get a new one, the calipers will likely leak when they are reassembled. The problem being that a replacement O-ring doesn't exist in the Mercedes-Benz parts system.

lol, when the rebuild kit gives a warning about the force of a brake caliper, make sure to take notice. With not much pressure, the pistons can become projectiles.
Quite a messy project, and I've been taking pictures with my DSLR, so I'll be able to post a DIY eventually. Currently I'm stopped because I need an air compressor to get out the front pistons, and also I want to clean and possibly paint the calipers before putting them back together.

Ah, the smell of toxic starfruit mist!
Looking good, I'm doing my brakes soon as well, the last time I did a downhill mountain run I got some serious fade and had to slow down and cool it.
